Matthieu Rachmajda (also widely known as MattRach) is a French musician who specializes in hard rock. He rose to fame through his adaptation of Canon Rock on the electric guitar.[1] With over 78 million views,[2] MattRach is one of the most popular French artists on YouTube.
Although most popular for his guitar interpretation, such as "Canon Rock" and "Vive le Vent d'Hiver", Rachmajda also plays drums and bass. In an interview with the French news channel Canal+, he admitted that he played more bass and drums to avoid being robotic while playing guitar, thereby keeping his improvisation natural.[3]
He currently plays with his band, Mattrach & Play, as well as releasing solo works. His compositions and songs are sold mainly through iTunes.

Rachmajda was born (February 15, 1991) and grew up in the small and isolated northern French village of Gommegnies.[4] For his sixth Christmas, he received his first electric guitar, a Jim Harley. Shortly afterwards, he started taking lessons from a music professor, learning classical guitar and music theory. He studied under this teacher for nine years.
In February 2003, he joined his family's musical band. From 2004 through 2007, he gave multiple concerts and shows throughout the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, playing remixes and compositions.
In July 2006, aged fifteen, he interpreted Canon Rock, a neoclassical arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon by JerryC. After uploading his performance to YouTube, it quickly became a tremendous success. In the following weeks, he was invited to the French TV show Le Morning de Cauet, where he performed live Deep Purple's hit song "Smoke On The Water".[5]
In August 2006, MattRach released a CD of solo compositions, "MattRach", using digital downloading platforms. To focus on his musical career, he dropped out of school in the 12th grade.[6] In May 2010, his band, MattRach & Play, released their first album, "Mister Jack".[7]
Starting in 2007, Rachmajda has been sponsored by Fender. His primary guitars are the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster. For acoustic songs, he uses a Fender Stratacoustic.
Rachmajda affirms that his favorites songs are Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses, Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix, Child In Time by Deep Purple, Communication Breakdown by Led Zeppelin and Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
